Primitive water clocks used in Malayan travel timing
Travelers note natives in the Malayan peninsula use a simple water clock to tell time, a method possibly 5,000 years old. A bowl with a drain sinks as it fills, and coconut shells drift in water bowls to mark time away from port. Egyptians also used water clocks, while sand glasses serve to boil eggs and time parliamentary divisions in England.
