Shooting spree damages windows and car at Woodums
Milam County deputies investigate an early Saturday shooting at Woodums Company Cameron. Three 38 calibre bullets damaged plate glass windows and a brand new car, one bullet piercing two windows and scoring the vinyl top. A bullet hole was found in the Moody home on North Houston. Also noted is Library Amnesty Week October 8 to 13 to return overdue books without fines.

Cameronite Rescues Shrimp Boat in Gulf Squall
An Alvin resident, John Matula, helped save D. O. Cooksey Jr. after a sudden Gulf squall swamped his aluminum shrimp boat off West Bay. Matula spotted the distressed craft, searched through heavy rain, and located Cooksey clinging to the motor, earning his thanks.

Fire destroys rented home on 14th Street
A Sunday 12:30 a.m. fire gutted a rental home at 1400 block of 14th Street. No occupants were present. Cameron volunteers report. The firemen's ladies auxiliary seek clothing for a young mother Peggy McCay and her 15 month old son, plus a high chair and baby bed lost in the blaze. McCay now stays with grandmother Allie Wright. Boots for the child were found burned. Mrs. McCay wears size 12 and 6 1/2 shoes. baby clothes 12 to 18 months.
