School Board Grants Administrators Salary Increases

Cameron School Board approved annual raises of 1000 dollars for Superintendent Wiley Loughmiller 900 dollars for Principal J R Dick Young and 900 dollars for Principal Leon Brady in lieu of expense accounts. The board also discussed insurance brokering and awarded a 53340 policy through Camp agency with the U S Guaranty and Trust Company. Doctor David Shapiro was named team doctor for 1956 57 without pay. Nathaniel Grace band teacher resigned to join El Campo. A 1957 Dodge pickup was bought from Schiller Motor Company. Band trip allowances set at fifty cents for short trips with longer trips subject to board vote. Ticket sales rules aligned with league policy ending sales at 6 pm for Yoe games and 1 pm for Yoe students on game day. O J Thomas game receipts showed net 246 for Cameron Yoe stadium first game and 46 50 for Snook game.

Former Cameron merchant dies in Navasota

Louis S Pierce former Cameron Department Store owner from 1919 to 1932 died Saturday night in Navasota. Funeral services were held Monday morning. He was survived by his wife and several children and grandchildren. Pierce was a retired businessman farmer and rancher, well known in Cameron and area though he lived in Navasota at death. 1955. The board decided only three men authorized to sign checks for the O J Thomas school may sign checks.

Yoemen Face Marlin Eleven In Friday Eight O'Clock Clash

Cameron Yoemen led by Coach Leo Jackson host the 1956 Marlin eleven at Yoe High Stadium Friday night at eight. Gene Hillman, 210 pound left tackle, is out due to an appendectomy, a major loss for offense and defense. Yeomen's roster shows virus illnesses affecting several players, potentially limiting scrimmage plans for the week.

Herald Sold to Don Scarbrough of Georgetown

The Cameron Herald will be sold this week to Don Scarbrough of Georgetown. Mil ton F. Brown Jr former publisher will remain involved in radio interests. Scarbrough plans to retain staff and expand with new hires to elevate the weekly paper. He has published in Taylor Elgin and Georgetown where he owns the Williamson County Sun and other papers.

Maple men’s league started Tuesday night at 7 30 in Cameron with eight teams. Water Sewer Bond Issues Pass In Close Cameron Vote

In Cameron Saturday water and sewer improvement bonds were approved by voters 302 to 228 and 292 to 220 respectively. A new filtration plant and lines will serve a 12 000 population by 1975 with state approval aiding growth. Sewer bonds of 175000 will fund a treatment plant meeting state specs and extend mains to unsewered areas.

Marine Sergeant Wilson Undergoes Surgery in Temple

Herndon B Wilson a Korean War Marine Sergeant underwent surgery at McCloskey Hospital Temple at 8 a m Tuesday. His condition is serious but expected to improve and another operation is anticipated. He spent six weeks prior confined to Scott and White Wichita and Veterans Hospitals Temple and Waco.

Fischer Re-elected SCD Supervisor In Tuesday Election

Edwin Fischer of Buckholts was re elected as a Soil Conservation District supervisor. The election took place between 2 pm and 4 pm last Tuesday in the Milam County Courthouse District Courtroom with 14 votes cast. Officials were Lester Byrd chairman Joe Marek secretary Cornelius Titsworth and Ed Pagel tally men.

Marlin Bulldog versus Cameron Yeemen game ticket policy

Tickets for the Marlin Bulldog and Cameron Yeemen game are sold at the Yee High Principal’s office. Reserved seats cost 1.25 dollars. advanced student tickets are 0.20 dollars. Student tickets during district play are 0.75 dollars. Local student tickets go off sale at 1 PM on game day at a 0.30 rate. Cameron students may reserve via office or buy at the gate until 6 PM. After 6 PM student tickets are 0.75 dollars. The policy applies to all Yoe season games.
