Winter Legumes Being Issued Now in Milam County

Beneficial rains have given Milam County farmers a strong start on winter legume planting this fall. Hundreds have used PMA assistance to plant as droughts last year hindered cover for cash crops. A good legume cover could lift next year’s corn cotton and other crops by 25 to 50 percent, reducing labor and input costs and offering insurance against drought. Farmers without seed are urged to obtain it promptly to avoid shortages.
