Frank Brosch Funeral Held Monday
Frank Brosch died at his Meeks Community home Saturday night November 14 1942 at 1145 pm after a period of ill health. Born in Lubomeri Moravia in 1879 he came to the United States in 1901 and married Anna Salach that year. One child Mrs Bessie Kolacek Seymour survives. Funeral services were held Monday November 16 1942 at Marek Burns Funeral Home with Rev Solomon of Cameron First Presbyterian Church officiating. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.

City Reports Scrap Drive Totals and Donations
Cameron officials reported 24 510 pounds of scrap metals collected in the drive led by Mayor Leland Green. Iron yielded 875 58 and tin 11 24 with a grand total of 86 92, of which 43 92 was sent to the Red Cross and 43 92 to the USO.

Negro Farm Council plans meeting and 1943 work program
The County Agricultural Council met on Saturday November 14 and elected officers. Fannin Pope was unanimously chosen to succeed himself as president. The group outlined a 1943 plan including meat work, a possible meat show, and an annual fruit tree campaign that has planted over five thousand trees with about 100 Negro farmers. They announced redistribution of six gifts to 4-H boys under the Sears plan, to be distributed November 28.

Thorndale Robber Captured After Farm Barn Standoff
Melvin Herman Cook, 18, Minnesota native, robbed a Magnida Station Buick in Thorndale after stealing the car in Houston. He shot while fleeing, later sought food at a San Gabriel area farm, and was captured by Constable Worley two miles from the farm. He was treated at Cameron Hospital. fingerprints were collected by Sheriff Walter White as the case unfolded.
