Senior Citizens Seek 3000 Tax Exemption From Cameron School Board
A delegation of six women led by Mrs. Bartow Jackson urged Cameron School Board to grant a 3000 tax exemption for seniors on fixed incomes arguing county and city exemptions exist and many nonstudents pay taxes. The board weighed budget impact and planned study while threatening a petition if denied. The meeting also approved 7000 for airpark field lighting contingent on city match, accepted TASB unemployment plan, ordered two new buses including one replacement, approved sale of old furniture and two vehicles, sold a house on Seventh Street, and set early April election day with a November meeting with Gause district over tax assessing duties.
