The Herald notes Emory B. Camp and Gordon Baskin have returned from the Navy and resumed the Camp and Camp insurance business in Cameron. Baskin served in the naval repair service and landing craft training while Camp was in the Pacific with radio intelligence in Hawaii. Both men are now back home giving personal attention to their business.

Basketball at Yoe High forecasts strong 1945 season
Yoe High School gears up for a promising 1945 basketball season with a mid December three day tournament planned for December 13 14 and 15. Coach Leo Jackson expects Waco and Temple teams to participate alongside Cameron stars returning such as Wallis Gerick Marek and others from the 1944 squad. Mrs Robert Todd dies. services set at Walkers Creek
Mrs Robert Todd died Tuesday morning November 18 1945. She was the widow of the late Sheriff and County Treasurer Robert Todd who died earlier this summer. Funeral services will be at Walkers Creek Baptist Church at 10 a.m. Wednesday with burial in Walkers Creek Cemetery.

Yoemen End Season With Rosebud Showdown Friday

Delegation Plans Belton Flood Control Meet
A Cameron delegation of businessmen and landowners will attend a November 19 flood control meeting at 2 p.m. called by the U S Army Engineers to discuss building a Leon River dam near Belton. Milam county stands to gain substantial land reclamation and economic benefits from the project as part of the Brazos River Conservation District. Oxsheer Smith of Cameron, on the organizing committee, is expected to attend. One fourth of Milam’s cultivated lands face flood risk.

Discharged Navy Radioman Phi in Shanghai War Zone
Delamon Hayes Radioman second class U S Navy has been discharged and home in Cameron. His last service was occupation duty in Shanghai aboard General MacArthur s flag ship the cruiser Nashville. The Nashville was attacked by a Japanese plane at 2 40 p m December 13 1944 killing 131 and wounding 195. Hayes recalled the crash near Negros Island with Admiral Spraance aboard and says the ship remained in line until darkness then sailed to port. He entered service July 1943 and was discharged October 7 1945 at Camp Wallace near Houston. Also noted are attendees at the Houston Methodist Conference including Rev K R Isbell and Mrs Baskin.

Clarkson Brothers Serve World War II In Europe
Sergeant Mitchell of the Army Air Corps arrived overseas in December 1943 attached to the 453 Bomb Group. He wears the Good Conduct medal and two battle stars. He is son of Mr. and Mrs. T. C. Mitchell of Lott and Clarkson. three other brothers served in WWII in the Pacific and Italy. Theo Mitchell was seriously wounded near Rome and is now discharged living in Lake Jackson, Texas.

Two Negroes Indicted In District Court Here This Week
Ioe McKinney and Russell Washington, both Negroes, were indicted by the Grand Jury in District Court this week. McKinney faces burglary charges including the Dave Bryan home robbery in Cameron and other burglaries with loot found in a west Cameron house. Washington is charged with assault with intent to murder for the cutting and shooting of two other Negroes recently.
