Yeomen defense dominates in undefeated run into playoffs

Weekend City Police Report Records Three Accidents

Police log lists three Cameron area crashes over the weekend. J K Wilkerson of Cameron was injured in a 11 p m Saturday collision at Eighth and Jefferson and treated at St Edward Hospital. A Sunday noon crash at Fourth and Fannin involved Leon Cox of Gatesville and Phillip McCall of Killeen with no injuries. A third Sunday 3 p m crash at Seventh and Milam damaged vehicles driven by Brian Wilkinson and Joe Stanley Kirk, both of Cameron, with no injuries. Roy is noted as a driver in one entry.

Yeomen poised for AA finals with strong backfield

The defense this year can contain backs like Bryan and Dickey who reach 200 yards per game. Cameron brings power speed and intensity to the line. If they keep one game at a time the Yeomen should reach the AA finals with Somebody and win.

Milam County Agriculture Income Drops in 1975 Estimates

Milam County reports a decline of 1.2 million dollars in total agricultural income for 1975 from 1974. 1974 income was 26.7 million with 1975 estimates at 25.5 million. Beef cattle and cotton led declines while wheat pecans hay and hogs rose. Cow sales rose modestly due to older cows sold. calf income fell by about 0.6 million from 1974.

Trustees Decide To Keep Smith Home And Finish Gym Work

Supt. Buddy Dulin reported Yoe gym renovation is advancing with shower walls complete painting near completion and floor work underway. He noted new steel doors will cost about 560 for four entrances and that science labs on the second floor are ready to begin.

New Route for US 190 Between Hearne and Cameron

State Highway Department announces a new US 190 alignment from Hearne at US 79 and SH 6 west to SH 36 near Milano and on to Cameron. The old US 190 segment becomes FM 485 and FM 2095 will run from Gause to near Cameron. The Milano to Hanover segment is designated FM 3242. A separate county economic summary reports 1975 crop and livestock income changes and total county revenue declines.

Commissioners View County Transit Plan

Milam County commissioners discussed a Texas Highway Department survey to assess transit needs with a 100 percent funded system, potentially supplying worker transportation. Other items included requests for increased expense accounts and a radar unit, office access issues for the drivers license division, jail roof water problems, a land donation offer, a certification letter for three Milam justices, auditor attendance funds, a subdivision plat approval, and the canvass of November election returns.

Milam County Pecan Show Awards Noted With Local Participation

The 1975 Milam County Pecan Show in Rockdale honored local exhibitors led by Terry Hardwick Cameron with the Champion in-shell pecan and Desirable class winner E J Provasek Cameron. Additional top placers included Anton Anderle Cameron and Mrs John Sapp Cameron in shelling and Native divisions. The show thanked Rockdale for support, Rockdale Chamber of Commerce for ribbons, Home Demonstration Club, and Winkler Pecan Farms Bell County for pecan crackers.
