Governor Stevenson to Speak Here on November 12
Governor Coke R. Stevenson will deliver a patriotic address in Cameron on Friday night November 12 for the dedication of a service flag in a Lions Club event. A reception and barbecue will precede the ceremony at the Athletic Field, with a large 18 by 18 feet service flag representing Cameron and trade territory. The public is invited to attend the field enclosure program beginning at 5 o'clock. This will be Stevenson’s first Cameron visit since becoming Texas governor.

Funeral rites for A J Lewis held in Cameron
Funeral services for A J Lewis 56 renowned lawyer and former Criminal District Attorney were held at 10 30 a m at Marek Burns Funeral Home. Died after a heart attack at his Cameron home early Wednesday the obituary notes crowds outside the home and tributes from family friends. A pastor delivered a long tribute citing wisdom faith and guidance for Lewis widow and children and referencing Tennyson’s Crossing the Bar as comfort.

Rabies Rabid Dog Killed at Local Junk Yard
A dog killed at the Bell Salvage Company yard Saturday tested rabid after its head was sent to Austin by Dr. D P Smith. Dr. Bohl notified the local lab that the animal had rabies and it is known to have attacked other dogs. Cameron residents are warned that many local dogs may be infected. Mr and Mrs L W Trayson of Paris are visiting relatives in town.

Funeral services for Mrs. R. A. Nabours 82 pioneer resident and mother of Homer Nabours county clerk were held at 4 p m Monday November 8 1943 at the Salem Methodist Church. The government seeks naturalization denial against Hans Ackermann Mrs. Ackermann and Max Herman for oath of allegiance with reservations. Cameron native Pvt Robert Shoaf serves seven months in Army Medical Corps
Pvt Robert Lee Shoaf now stationed at San Luis Obispo California serves seven months in the U S Army Medical Corps. He is the son of Mr and Mrs Fred Shoaf of Cameron born and raised here and attended public schools. Inducted seven months ago he reported to Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio. He was home on furlough in October for the first time since enlisting. Shoaf is one of many Cameron boys serving in the global war.

Three Cameron business firms were added to the list to be closed on Armistice Day: Cameron Machine Shop J C Penney Company and Cameron Fruit Company. Louis F Gohmert of the American Legion said apologies were made for the omission and that the petition was not taken to the business block housing the machine shop. The Legion expresses regret for the oversight and the Herald provides the notice in fairness.
