Milam County Voters Face Broad 1960 General Election Ballot

Milam County voters Tuesday will cast ballots at 38 polling places in the 1960 general election. The presidential race is Kennedy vs Nixon with their running mates Johnson and Lodge. The ballot lists 24 county to national posts, plus four proposed amendments on a hospital district, veterans bonds, legislators salaries, and loan controls. Unopposed offices include several county and state posts. numerous candidates compete in key races, with write-in weighers in eight precincts.

Polls Open 8 A.M. In Milam County General Election

Milam County officials predict about 500 voters in the General Election Tuesday with 38 polling places. Polls open 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Absentee ballots total 99, with a Tuesday deadline to vote. Local drives by Boy Scouts VFW Lions Club and Cameron Lion Club urge turnout. Angell Elected Milam Farm Bureau President at Convention

W L Angell was elected president of the Milam County Farm Bureau at its annual convention held at Yee High School in Cameron. New officers include First Vice President Charles E Hensley and Second Vice President Vir S W McClar en Jr with Miss Lenora A Bickett as secretary treasurer. A 19 member slate was elected, and 16 county rescuers will be sent to the State Farm Bureau convention in Dallas November 9 12. The new board will meet at 7 30 p m to elect 12 delegates to the State Convention.

State Certifies Cameron Water System For 1961

The Cameron City Council received a letter from the State Health Dept recertifying the city water supply for 1961 and noted Santa Fe Railroad workers cleared weeds and planned crossings work. Mayor Coleman Duncum said engineers viewed tracks, and a fire whistle was reconnected. The council also approved two bills: 666 for workers compensation insurance and 264 for Burroughs office machine maintenance.

Clem Zarosky 64 Dies in Cameron Services Friday

Clem Zarosky a Cameron native and WWI veteran died Wednesday at age 64. Funeral services set for 9:30 a.m. Friday at St. Monica’s Catholic Church with burial in Marek Cemetery. He was a retired carpenter born November 21 1895. Rosary services occurred Wednesday and Thursday at Marek Burns Funeral Home. Survived by two sisters Mrs. John Marak and Mrs. Johnny Bobac and five brothers Frank, Matthew Sr, Joe, John, Cyril Zarosky.

Colonel Inspects Milam Guard Unit During Past Week

Milam County's National Guard Company C of the 3rd Medium Tank Battalion underwent its annual federal inspection last week. Lt Col James R Reed led the inspection for the Inspector General's Department with MSgt Isaac Evans assisting and Lt Col Olin F Brewster and Major Robert MacBurney among accompanying staff officers. Reed will file a written report within a few days.
