Milam Pioneer Celebrates 104th Birthday in Corpus Christi
A Milam County native born May 25 1865 in Perry County Alabama marked his 104th birthday in Corpus Christi with family. Allen Wesley Moody recalled the ox drawn wagon journey to Texas lasting 65 days and long life on a Milam County homestead before moves to San Marcos and eventually Corpus Christi where he is celebrated by daughters grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Three Die In Headon Accident Near Milano
A headon collision near Milano on Highway 79 killed Mary Jean Johnson 18 of Gause Samuel Walker Jr 16 of Milano and Jacob Nichols Jr 25 of Milano. Driver Napoleon Williams 34 of Hearne was injured and treated at a Rockdale hospital. Police report Walker’s car was on the wrong side of the road when it struck Williams’s eastbound pickup. Johnson had graduated from Milano High School the previous night. Funeral services were held for Johnson in Gause with burial in Gause Cemetery. Nichols died in Tomball with services there and Walker was buried in Milano after services at the Good Will Baptist Church.

John M Delahunty Dies In San Angelo
John M Delahunty 74 of San Angelo died May 1 in a San Angelo hospital. Born February 25 1895 in Cameron he married Eunice Barker in Maysfield and lived in San Angelo since 1925. He worked with M System Food Stores until 1960 retirement and was a long time Woodmen of the World member. Funeral services were May 15 at Johnson's Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens in San Angelo. Survived by three daughters a sister a brother five grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Patrolman Hired To Replace Martinez In Cameron
Cameron police chief John Shearin announced Flipe Martinez resigned to join Rockdale. William Roabe, 33, of Belton, was hired to replace Martinez and brings eleven years in law enforcement with Bell County sheriff and Belton Police. Two locals remained in city jail awaiting trial on assaulting an officer and carrying a concealed weapon.

Courthouse Renovation Nears Completion With Elevators Installed
