Damage Suit Filed In Fatal Accident In Rogers Crash
A $10 000 damage suit was filed by Mrs Christine Slavik of Cameron in 27th District Court against Joe Carroll and others of Temple. The action grows from a May 4 traffic crash at the Rogers east city limits that killed Mrs Slavik's husband B A Slavik 52 and Temple city attorney Joe Carroll 55.

Trustees Appoint Equalization Board At Special Session
A three man equalization board was named for the 1965 66 school year with members Anderle Angell and Matocha. The board also accepted teacher Mary Kathryn Dodd’s resignation at Ada Henderson and named Barbara Fuqua to fill the vacancy. Supervisors reviewed roof repair after April hail damage and noted an insurance settlement above 12 600. The work went to Anderle Lumber Gilmeister for Yee High and Ben Milam schools. 1964 uncollected taxes totaled 8 206 76 and 1953 63 totals 15 339 83 giving 23 546 59. Tax collections from Oct 1964 to Apr 1965 stood at 158 833 26 or 95 1 percent.

Cotton farmers in Milam County, hit by heavy rains and floods, aim to replant by mid June if weather allows. Henry Ivey of the Farmers Home Administration notes about 50 percent of financed cotton and grain sorghum were lost, with 3 000 acres of cotton affected and 2 600 acres of grain sorghum damaged. No livestock or equipment losses were reported, and oats and small grains are considered largely ruined. County agent J D Moore says damage varies across the area.

H N Smith state conservationist from the Soil Conservation Service in Temple says 85 percent of an estimated 830000 dollars in Elm Creek flood damages could have been prevented by an upstream watershed project.
