A Saturday afternoon crash on Highway 190 near Silver City seven miles east of Cameron sent eight people to St. Edward Hospital in Cameron. A. J. Niley Smith of Cameron drove the car entering the highway from a side road and collided with Elvira Rocha of Rt. 2 Cameron who led a seven passenger vehicle. Readings noted cuts lacerations and bruises with one Rocha occupant undergoing head surgery.

County commissioners review a state funded communications system sponsored by the Central Texas Council of Governments. Robert Lowry of General Electric outlines a 150 megahertz band, law enforcement use only, no current frequency congestion, with Cameron and Rockdale invited to share in a $9 113 10 county cost for a 370 foot tower installation.
Mrs. Hugo Hollas of Cameron and Lloyd E. Lamere of Rockdale are named top 4-H adult leaders in District 10 by the Texas Youth Development Foundation. They will be honored at a June 6 luncheon at Texas A&M University during the 1973 State 4-H Roundup.
Multiple area high schools set graduation timelines for late May to early June. Yee High School will graduate 106 seniors at Yoe Field on June 1 with a May 27 Baccalaureate at the same venue. Buckholts Rogers Milano Rosebud Lott plan ceremonies and diplomas May 25 to June 1, with class valedictorians and salutatorians named.
Friends of the Library sponsor a children's puppet show at 10 a.m. Saturday at Cameron Public Library. Puppeteer is Mrs. Doris Goodrich Jones of Waco. This is the third program in Cameron Library Friends spring series following a Bryan Public Library book review.
Fred P. Bergeron, manager of Alcoa's Rockdale Works, reported to Cameron Lions Club that the Milam County plant is back to full capacity with eight lines active and employment over 1600 for the first time in two years. He noted strong first quarter records, 95 percent capacity locally, and a multi million dollar ingot plant expansion under way to boost competitiveness.
