Council Calls Election On Meters For July 16
A spokesman for YHS senior class told The Herald none of the senior boys painted Yee High School or the gym. The group met Tuesday afternoon at YHS to appoint a spokesman and stated they did not participate in painting the buildings or signs. Painting occurred Monday night and officials do not know the painter's identity.

City Council Reinstates Patrolman Terry at New Salary
The Cameron City Council approved Terry’s reinstatement as meter officer with a salary of 100 dollars plus a 10 dollar monthly clothing allowance and potential 100 dollars monthly Social Security. Commencement Set For Graduating Class
Tomorrow night Yee High School hosts 60 seniors for commencement at 3 pm at Yoe Athletic Field. Buckholts held ceremonies earlier this week. School board president H B Pressley will present diplomas to 17 honor students with Franklin Moore as valedictorian and Carol Sanders as salutatorian. Superintendent Wiley Loughmiller will award scholarships. Principal J R Young will present scholar ship awards. The YHS band will perform and the class will sing On Yoe High after diplomas are handed.

Temple Services Held For Train Victim 85
Funeral services were held at First Lutheran Church in Temple for John Rydell 85 who was killed at a Temple railroad crossing Tuesday morning. Interment followed at Hillcrest Cemetery with Green's Funeral Home in charge. Survivors include his wife five sons three daughters twenty four grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.

TEL Class Meets At First Baptist
The TEL Class of the First Baptist Church met Wednesday in the Educational Building for a business meeting and social. Mrs W H Fannin gave the opening prayer with the devotional by Mrs F J Beckerman. President Mrs J N West closed with prayer. A covered dish luncheon with lemonade was served to 11 members and one visitor.

About 167 mill county businessmen and guests attended a Monday banquet in retiring Bryan district engineer Blair’s honor. State Engineer Greer praised his 32 year highway career and noted Blair’s role in road economy thinking and international work with Mexico. Blair is succeeded by C. Measles Count Tops Milam County Health Update
Communicable disease cases last week totaled 44 in Milam County per Dr John Bryson county health unit director. Measles led with 31 cases, followed by seven throat infections, plus four chickenpox, one pneumonia and one whooping cough case.

Cameron City School Board votes 64 to accept the resignation of O J Thomas Principal H K Harnsberry after a NAACP-related letter. Four weeks earlier contracts for nine Negro teachers at O J Thomas were not renewed per Harnsberry recommendations. Cameronite 79 Recovering After Two Car Collision
Cameronite Joe Bass, 70, is hospitalized with a concussion a broken arm and a broken leg after a Tuesday morning collision on US 77 near Radio Station KMIL. Billy Toms 52 of Rosebud sustained facial cuts and was released after treatment. Bass veered to left while Toms rode west. Toms car was a total loss and Bass’s Ford was heavily damaged.

PONY League Plans Get Underway In Cameron
A new PONY baseball league for boys 13 14 was organized Tuesday night with two teams of 16 players. Wayne Mann announced Cameron LOOF Lodge would sponsor. Pete Miller and Jim Edwards to manage. First game set for the first Thursday in June. games twice weekly on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Officers include Edison Fikes vice president and Paul Dillon secretary treasurer.
