New Remedy for Chicken Lice Discovered by Entomologist
George Banzhaf, County Agent in Rockdale Texas, reports a new lice remedy for chickens using sodium fluoride. A pound costs 40 to 50 cents and treats about 100 fowls by dusting. dipping in a solution of 1 ounce per gallon proves more economical. The powder, when used as dust or dip, kills seven common lice species and is easy to apply, though it may irritate the nose and skin with prolonged exposure.

Washington May 6 Advices from the navy consulting board on progress toward a solution for the submarine menace are expected at the Navy Department. Secretary Daniels said he trusts American ingenuity will check the U boat threat though he gave no details of experiments. The board chairman’s telegram to the Associated Press said progress is good and a device of great promise is under practical trial.
