City approves four new tennis courts in City Park

Mayor Gene Blake and the City Council unanimously approved a plan to build four modern lit tennis courts at the north end of City Park along East Sixth Street. A Town & Country Tennis Association delegation supported the proposal, noting rising membership and potential growth in lessons and tournaments.

Yoe High Band Wins Buccaneer Parade Class AA

The Yoe High band won Class AA in the Buccaneer Days Parade at Corpus Christi. Eight bands competed including Cotulla Freer Lake Worth Lumberton Orangefield Robinson Waco and San Diego high schools. Band director Jerry Bartley praised the group's spirit and behavior during the parade and at the Master Host Inn. The band plans a spring concert May 22 at 7 pm in the school gym with beginner and junior high bands also performing.
