New Night Club Under Construction At Cameron

A new night club on Highway 77 opposite Cameron Municipal Airport is under construction. Lee Marek, owner of the Blue Room at Hearne, has bought land near the port and the Max Schwinger property to build the club, which will be among the largest locally and opened soon on modern lines. Nearby A C Freeman of Maysfield is building for J I Case Implement Company.

Rehearing Sought in Newton Case

Emory B. Camp announced a motion for re hearing will be filed with the Court of Criminal Appeals in Austin to reconsider its Tulsa verdict upholding Dr W R Newtons two year sentence for assault to murder Dr Roy P Hunt of Littlefield. A 15 day window is allowed before a hearing date is set. Newton remains practicing at the Clinic and Hospital.

Milam Producers Called to Form Permanent Council

Milam county producers are summoned to meet in Cameron at 7 p.m. on Thursday May 1 in the District Court room to form a permanent organization adopt a constitution and bylaws and name permanent officers. The temporary committee met last Thursday in the Chamber of Commerce offices with Robert Glenn as president Roy Hensley as vice president and directors Frank Mitchell Roy Wright Sam White W. A. Atkinson and H. B. Pressley present. Guests included Bill Arthur of the Chamber Agricultural Committee and Felix DAbadie of the Southern Pacific Railroad.

The Anderle Lumber Company Inc opens for business in Cameron with Anton Anderle as principal stockholder and operator. The yard at 314 South Crockett Street is located near the Santa Fe Depot as the firm introduces lumber and building materials to the area.

Cameron voters may face a $137000 bonds plan to renovate 30 blocks in the business district and a $25000 upgrade for the old academy building to become a city hall. Veteran of Telephone Service Resumes Work in Cameron

J. M. McLean a long time Southwestern Bell employee in Cameron resumed work after briefly resigning from the union. He is a combination man in charge of all local system property and construction. McLean has 35 years with the company and 20 years in Cameron. he was honored in Temple for 35 years service.

Died in Alvin Kyle Springer Dies at 44

Kyle Springer 44 died at his home in Alvin on Tuesday. The body was taken to his sister’s home in Milano. Funeral services were held at 4 P.M. Wednesday at the Milano Methodist Church. He is survived by his widow Frances Springer of Alvin, three daughters, one son, a grandson, and several siblings. Interment followed in Milano Cemetery.

The Milam County A&M Ex-Students Club, with about 50 attendees at Cameron Country Club on April 21, passed a unanimous resolution urging Texas A&M College to replace President Gib Gilchrist. They said the administration lacks student respect and that Texas A&M must progress beyond one man’s leadership.

Miss Clydelle Walston daughter of Mr and Mrs EB H Walston of Cameron travels with the Texas City Delegation to Washington to testify before a congressional committee on reconstruction work. Flying visitors swoop into town for breakfast at Airport Inn

Last week several out of town guests visited, including S. N. Frump and Nell Skidmore from Kilgore flying a Stinson Voyager 150, J. M. Jernigan from Bryan, a civil aeronautics examiner, and Cr. E. Chipper from Navasota. On Sunday morning Sam Bass and others joined for breakfast at the Airport Inn.
