A contract for paving with double bituminous surfacing of over 100 blocks in Cameron was signed by Mayor Davis at council direction. Work to begin soon. a unit contract was let and estimates will be advertised after engineers finalize them. Completion is expected within about six months and contractors have about 90 working days to finish.
Bobby Jackson the Fort Sam Houston middleweight champion will meet Kid Moco of Waco in a ten round main event at the Legion Athletic club in Cameron next Tuesday night April 3. The card also features three preliminary bouts and a semi final, with Jackson noted as a skilled, hard punching fighter and Moco described as a rising Waco star weighing 167 pounds.
Vic Miller and Henry Karhunsaari met Tuesday night in a wrestling card deemed the season finale by the Legion. Miller fell twice by toe holds and won the middle fall. the British Finn prevailed in the closing bout. The Legion Gym program is paused until fall, with the arena set to host the Legion Athletic Club’s next program next Tuesday.

Sheriff seeks John Williams a Negro preacher in connection with a Tuesday night shooting of his wife at 7:30. A shotgun taken from a Cameron home was returned after the incident. The wife was wounded in the hand and is recovering. The quarrel followed a separation. Williams is a familiar local figure, having worked for several businesses.
Mesdames Tom Denson and C. Martin attended a delightful luncheon last Wednesday at ten o'clock at the home of Mrs Goodhue Barclay in Waco.

Abe Claxton must serve 99 years for the killing of Otto Junek near North Elma School on July 23, 1924. The case, State v J A Claxton, moved through appeals and retrials, with prior life and 26 year sentences reversed, and a third trial upholding murder finding. The defendant has remained in custody since the homicide.
