A nationwide Red Cross flood relief drive requests immediate funds to aid thousands left homeless. The appeal calls for at least three million dollars for shelter, food, clothing, medical care and indefinite support until return home. Fronted by William M. Baxter Jr and J Love with local receivers listed for donations across Cameron, Rockdale, Thorndale, Buckholts, Burlington and Milam County Texas.
Dr. Robert T. Hil notes that Spanish missions once numbered over 40 in Texas with three in Milam County. Only one definite Milam site remains, Mission San Francisco Xavier on the San Gabriel River in present Williamson County. R. D. Brown shares the list of mission locations.

An addition to the Mexican Catholic church on Temple highway progresses, with KE A Perrin noting the new physical education and vocational building near completion in about 100 working days. Nearby wisteria decorates several homes including those of E K A Wallace Mollie Moore Lottie Bigbee A C Freeman T S Henderson R H McIntosh and Sam Hefley.
Liquor stamp sales have raised the Old Age Pension fund to 1 962 739 dollars as of Tuesday with three fourths allotted to the aged and one fourth to schools. Cameron plans a new hotel in 1936 announced by Albert Collins of the Chamber of Commerce. Agent Banzhaf speeds cotton subsidy payments urging farmers to sign blanks. these blanks are separate from the new farm program.
Reverend Vernon G Miles pastor of the DuQuoin Illinois Baptist Church has been chosen for Cameron Baptist Church from a pool of 52 candidates. It will take about two weeks to decide if he accepts. He and wife Bernia a Baylor graduate have two children.
Dr. S L Joekel delivers two daily sermons at First Presbyterian Church inviting locals and from Rosebud and nearby towns to attend at 10 a m and 7 30 p m. His messages challenge readers to measure life by God’s standard rather than society and urge proving all things and holding fast to what is good.

Milam county voters will ballot on legalizing liquor sales with a choice between regulation and tax support for the Old Age Pension fund or keeping the open bars and illegal sales. Be A Camp of Rockdale arranged election details. If approved, sales in original packages would be allowed. if dry, no change. The move aims to fund the Old Age Pension with new revenue.
The sample ballot outlines the form used for the March 28 election on legalizing control of liquor now sold in Milam County. It shows the question to authorize the sale of all liquors and directs voters on the ballot wording.
Albert Collins, president, announced Cameron’s Chamber of Commerce plan for 1936. The group listed four major projects including a new Cameron hotel and the extension of highway 69, with committee reports heard Tuesday night.
W A Bill Morrison city attorney and Texas lawyer announces for Democratic nomination as Milam County District Attorney.
