R M Kennedy Milam County sheriff announces re election bid for a second term subject to the July Democratic Primary on July 25 He is a Milam native who first served as sheriff after his 1934 poll victory and takes the oath to begin the second half of his first term.
Jack Cameron visits the Herald office and predicts Roosevelt’s re election across the nation. He cites his scrapbooks with clippings from 37 states and argues key states from New York to the Midwest will vote Democratic, aiding Roosevelt’s bid as in the last election. Turn to page 16.

Reorganization of the Cameron Country Club nears completion as Stanley H Swift announces inviting others to join the new plan. Uninvited members are asked to see Swift, Bassett Watson, or Dr. James Watson. foreclosed club property will be sold and then purchased by three original note holders for the new organization.
Walter H. Fuchs, commissioner of Precinct No. 1, announces his bid for re election before voters of seats 6 and 7 pending Democratic Primary action in Milam County on July 25, 1936. He states he was appointed to fill his late father’s unexpired term and pledges to discharge duties capably if re elected.
Jesse James announces another term bid for Representative from the 65th Miatorial District serving Milam, Lee and Burleson counties. figures show 1935 cotton rental payments totaled 515263.79 and 34032.64 for corn and hogs. As vice chairman of Taxation, he helped cut ad valorem tax rates from 105 to 62 cents, and he supports an Old Age Pension per constitutional amendment.
The Alamo garrison led by William B Travis faced massacre with 180 Texan defenders dying without survivors. The scene honors their sacrifice as Texans recall the Cradle of Texas Liberty in the capitol halls.
Beginning Monday March 23 the city will require vaccination of all dogs against rabies enforcement by Marshal Gene Smith. Two elderly women Mrs Ellen Rice of Milano and Mrs Josephine Hertenberger of Cameron both 90 died Tuesday. Leyendecker testifies in murder and DWI trial after fatally injuring Mrs Lucas in Rockdale last fall. Alvin Roberts takes hardware manager job at Green & Boedeker.
