Housewives must report April household workers paid up to 50 dollars in cash wages in January February and March. The fifth quarterly report covers cooks maids and private household workers and must be sent to the District Director in Austin. Wages of 50 dollars by one employer in a quarter count toward eligibility for retirement or survivor benefits. The William P. Carey Lumber Company of Texas celebrates its 75th anniversary with a year long sales campaign. A company convention on the anniversary dates launches the observance. The firm traces its origins to founder William P. Carey, son of Wichita Kansas mayor John B. Carey, who once ran a lumber business before selling to Rock Island Lumber Co.
Kansas first William P. Carey started the business with his father and grew into a regional lumber firm. Now the Carey family runs seven yards in Oklahoma and Texas with several subsidiaries including Care Lumber Co near the state capitol. Charles D. Carey serves as president with a roster of Sharp, Carey and O Conor officers and long serving workers across Oklahoma and Texas.
