Brenham and Waco Railroad survey sparks possible route near Cameron
Sheriff Teague and County Clerk Seward of Washington county led two railroad men on an overland auto survey from Brenham to Waco. The route would pass Gause Branchville Jones Prairie and Rosebud with a potential line six miles from Cameron if a 25 000 bonus and 25 000 stock are offered. Engineers estimate appears conservative and the builders may contract immediately if the country and costs prove as described.

B Howard Mourned In Rockdale And Milam County
Rockdale and Milam County mourn the loss of B Howard a popular citizen and officer. He died Tuesday and was buried Wednesday at 40 a m by the K of P with Woodmen and ministers present. He left a wife and four children and his horse waited at the hearse saddled for a mount. Delegations from Cameron attended including W C Ross A W Taber J T Kemp Jim Pate Sheriff and Elmer Holtzclaw Allen Hooks and Graham Gillis. All business in Rockdale was suspended for the funeral.

Mrs Maud Kersey Tatum Dies of Typhoid in Stamford
Mrs Maud Kersey Tatum wife of Elmer Tatum died at Stamford on Saturday following an eighteen day illness of typhoid fever. The burial took place at Little River church burying ground Monday afternoon with Rev S H Pollard preaching. She leaves a husband and one daughter.

Runaway Mule Wrecks buggy injuring Mrs Harper and daughter
Sunday morning at Walker's Creek a mule started by a roadside noise causing a buggy to strike a stump. Mrs Will Harper suffered a neck wound requiring nine stitches while her daughter Alice had jaw and neck cuts needing fifteen stitches after they were thrown against a barbed wire fence.

Dr. E J Powell popular Maysfield physician died at Mrs Lizzie Wilson Salem home and was buried Tuesday at 3 pm in Salem burying grounds with Rev Cravy of Maysfield officiating. He leaves a wife and daughter Mrs Oscar Tyson and two grandchildren and many friends mourn his loss. The medical fraternity and Maysfield community remember him as a valued citizen. Mrs Barton has gone to Lyons for a month and Dr Epperson occupies his house while a new one is built.

Death of Maj G W Newton at Buckholts aged 72
Maj G W Newton died Friday at 1 30 p m at his son Dr W R Newton’s Buckholts residence. Funeral held at Oak Hill Cemetery with ministers J F Garrett Buckholts and J T Smith Cameron. He was a Primitive Baptist preacher from Arkansas wintering in Texas. He left ten children and a wife. The Herald offers condolences.
