The Cameron county Democratic convention convened at the courthouse with Judge Sam Streetman elected temporary chair. Scott Field and others spoke for congress, with Field ultimately endorsed. Eugene Wallace was chosen county Democratic executive committee chair. Attendance was large and beat delegations selected reports and platform items.
The Beat No.1 Democratic convention convened in Cameron’s district court room last Saturday with J. M. Sharp as chair. Frank Zellner elected secretary. A credentials committee chaired by Sam Streetman was appointed. Delegates were chosen based on one per 10 votes for Gov. Sayers, with alternate rules sending one delegate per 20 votes to the county convention next Monday. Cameron box delegates listed, including J. B. Moore and Sam Streetman among others.
A political convention added Hon. A. J. Lewis as beat at large delegate. It instructed James Bass as Beat chairman and an executive committeeman from the Beat for two years. M. J. Moore’s name was not mentioned for county executive committee chairmanship. E. A. Wallace of Rockdale was chosen for that position. The convention adjourned.
The church announces a sermon by Pastor Challenner titled The Church Is it Worth The Cost Next Sunday at 11 am at the Christian church. A union revival follows with city pastors preaching and daily services at 10 am and 7 30 pm, urging members to devote time to the Lord. Ed White of Davilla visited this week on business.
