Former Cameron Woman Dead

The sad news reached Cameron on Saturday of the death of Mrs. R. E. Westmoreland of Oklahoma City. She was the daughter of Andrew McLane of Cameron and sister of Floy McLane Shaw of Temple and Frank McLane of Houston and Bob and Lee McLane of Cameron. The Herald extends sympathy to the family.

Presbyterian Aid Society Elects Officers for New Year

The Presbyterian Aid Society held a business session at Mrs. R. D. Brown’s home. Officers elected: Mrs. Eggert President, Mrs. Myres Vice President, Mrs. Robert McLane Secretary and Treasurer. Mrs. Brown and Mrs. Butts named delegates to Presbyterial. next meeting with Mrs. W. A. Gillon on the 4th Monday.

Rockdale Readies Summer Fair Revival

A Rockdale civic meeting at the Rockdale State Bank revived plans to hold a summer fair. President Meyer led a unanimous vote to launch the event with officers elected: H. C. Meyer president, Leonard Isaacs vice president, Fred H. Graves secretary, C. R. Isaacs treasurer. A parade committee was named and a date fix committee formed. The previous fair (1915) cleared nearly $1000 above expenses and never lost money.

Milam County Sees Six Schools Get Rural Aid

Milam County education officials report that five of seven inspected schools met state requirements for the Million Dollar Rural Schools Aid. Ad Hall received 500 dollars instead of 400, with potential 600 next year. Ben Arnold 250. Buckholts 40. Bryant Station 200. Granger Friendship 400. Death of Mrs E S Wimberly Pioneer Citizen

Mrs BE S Wimberly, a pioneer resident near Briery, died early Monday at age 77 after a hip fracture four years earlier. A devoted Methodist, she leaves three sons and two daughters. husband died in 1905. Funeral at Clarkston cemetery Monday afternoon.

Athenian Literary Society Debates Telegraph Ownership

The Athenian Literary Society met Tuesday at 7:30. Mr. Jack Adams led a prayer and Milton quotes opened roll call. The group passed minutes, debated government ownership of telegraph and telephone systems, and saw the Negative win unanimously. Nat Wofford resigned, J. G. West was expelled, and the meeting adjourned after voting on absentees.
