Death of Mrs. Jack Taylor Is Reported In Cameron
Mrs. Jack Taylor, 35, died Tuesday morning March 13, 1951 after sudden illness. She was taken to St. Edward Hospital and pronounced dead by Dr. David Shapiro. Inquest was held by Coroner Justice of Peace Womack Brashear as an investigation proceeded. Funeral plans were pending with Keever and Green’s, with body released to Ennis for services. Survived by husband Jack Taylor of Cameron, Connie Richardson of Ennis, parents Mr. and Mrs. Jones of Ennis, three sisters Jesse Jones Patsy Jones and Mrs. Josephine Mock.

Marine Private Gordon C. Gibson Completes Recruit Training
Gordon C. Gibson son of O. V. and Mrs. Gibson of Cameron Texas finished his initial Marine Corps training at San Diego California. He earned the rank of Private First Class after a clean record on completion. Gibson trained on arms first aid field sanitation map reading and drill and later fired the M1 rifle for record. He will join a Casual Platoon at his duty station. Gibson is Yee High School class of 1950 alumnus and former Yeemen football captain and all conference tackle. He completed a ten day furlough before returning to San Diego.

C F Spiller 92 prominent pioneer of Cameron died Friday March 9 at 4 30 PM at family residence. Native of Sumner Georgia he lived in Georgia and Alabama until 1890 when he moved to Texas with parents. He worked as a street car conductor in Dallas when horses pulled cars. He knew much Texas history and remained informed on current problems. He lived with daughter Mrs Dorcas Batte in recent years and was known for his jovial nature and sunny smile. Emma Pressley 84 died at her daughter Mrs Curtis Gill’s home on West 3rd Street after four years of illness. Born in Atlanta 1876, she lived in Milam and Bell counties thirty years. Funeral Monday at 2 PM at Green's Chapel with Dr. Magers officiating. Interment Wilson Valley Cemetery. Survived by three daughters, four sons, a sister, two brothers, two stepdaughters, fifty-eight grandchildren and thirty great grandchildren.

Francis Cox to Judge Fifth Dayton Band Festival
Francis Cox leader of the Yee High School band will depart Friday afternoon March 16 for Dayton Texas to serve as critic judge at the Fifth Annual Dayton Band Festival. Twenty bands enter the festival which will judge concert playing and sight reading. The event runs Saturday March 17 and Cox plans to return to Cameron late Saturday or Sunday morning.
