$60 Bonus For Discharged Soldiers Announcement

A local board in Milam County urges discharged soldiers to apply for a $60 bonus under Section 1406 of the 1919 Revenue Act. Eligible personnel discharged since April 6, 1917 will be paid on the same roll as their final pay, with checks mailed in order of receipt.

The quarterly Milam County Baptist Association meeting will be held in Cameron from Thursday night March 27 to Sunday March 30. An interesting program covers practical church work with several good speakers. The public is invited. B. B. Blaylock, Moderator.

Civic League Holds March Meeting and Plans Trash Wagon Oversight

The Civic League met Friday afternoon March 7 at 3 30 in the Auditor ium Hotel parlors. Mrs. Jim Watson presided and members were assigned to supervise the trash wagon run by the city under league direction. Due to low attendance key items were postponed to the April meeting. Treasurer Mrs. R 3 Boykin reported 114 40 on Feb 1 and 1107 90 balance after February expenses of federation dues and shrubs in the park. Miss Mary Popperwell of the State Educational Department visited local schools.

Cameron Symphony Club to Present Vernon Dalhart Recital

Cameron and Milam county music lovers will host Vernon Dalhart in a recital at Cameron High School auditorium on Friday March 28 at 8 30 p m. Dalhart is praised as an American tenor with a wide repertoire and a history of engagements in major productions and tours.

Mrs. Sarah Albright Claimed By Death

Mrs. Sarah Albright aged 95 died in Cameron last Tuesday afternoon at 5 p.m. She was born in 1824 in Kentucky and lived much of her life in Missouri Texas and Williamson County. She was married to Rev. A. Albright in 1861 and leaves two surviving children Mrs. W. H. Triggs of Cameron and George Albright plus four grandsons. Funeral was held at 38 p.m. from the home of W. C. Triggs with Rev. Walter Habbin and Rev B. B. Blaylock officiating. interment at Oak Hill Cemetery.

Cameron Club Visits Rockdale For Peace Meeting

A Cameron Commercial Club delegation visited Rockdale on Tuesday night after an invitation from the Rockdale Chamber of Commerce. The joint session praised friendly ties, discussed road bonds and state highway plans, and proposed interclub cooperation to designate a new state highway from Giddings to Waco with state aid. About 200 attendees heard speeches from Cameron and Rockdale leaders.

Victory Loan Workers to Receive Medal

The fifty cent sized medal bears a Treasury Department engraving and a certification of participation, with space for the recipient’s name. Frank M. Big Kindergarten Rally Opens Fort Worth March 22

A statewide coalition of groups including Federated Women's Club Mothers' Club W C T U and suffrage associations will hold a big Fort Worth rally for the kindergarten cause on March 22 with afternoon and evening sessions. Miss Mable M. Osgood will preside. Prominent leaders from Texas will extend greetings and speakers from across the state will address the event.
