Long Time Cameron Businessman Joseph Michalka Dies
Joseph Michalka 77 died of a heart attack on March 8 in Cameron. He helped found Cameron Machine Shop in 1907 and co ran Cameron Implement Company from 1948 until his death. Survivors include his widow Mary and four sons and five daughters. Funeral rites were held March 10 at St Monica's Church with burial in St Monica's Cemetery.

Samuel Brown the son of Mrs Everaleaner Milligan graduated from Prairie View A and M College in January with a Civil Engineering degree. He works with Fransworth and Chambers Construction Co of Houston. A 1946 Cameron O Thomas High School graduate, he is the first Civil Engineering graduate from Prairie View and the first Black engineer in Houston.
