Sanderford Enters Race for Governor

Senator Roy Sanderford of Belton announces candidacy for Texas governor in the Democratic primary of July 1936. He proposes a sales tax to fund the old age pension and would exempt state purposes from property taxes. Matocha Fights Securities Act In Houston Case

In Houston last week attorney B P Matocha representing the Texas Securities Division argued before a three judge Federal Court challenging the constitutionality of the Securities Act. The case was submitted on briefs and a decision is expected within three weeks.

Kraft Phoenix Cheese Plant Opens in Cameron Texas

The Kraft Phoenix Cheese Corp opened its Texas plant on Monday March 2 marking Cameron’s centennial growth. Manager B M Alexander announced 2422 pounds of milk received on opening day with steady daily receipts despite bad weather. Routes cover Kirk Hanover Milano Ramsey Branchville Bally Rosebud and others. City council approved a permanent fair exhibit center with 15 acres located and $8000 federal funding toward an $11000 project to house annual fair exhibits.

Lumbermen 10 Mc Here On March 9

Lumbermen from District 16 will convene in Cameron Monday March 9. The event is arranged by R P Fisher of the Jeter Lumber Company who spoke at a recent Austin convention. Mr Bickett the State Association secretary will be the chief speaker for the one day meeting. John Jeter of Jeter Lumber helps with arrangements and entertainment for delegates. It is the first time the convention meets in this district section.

Funeral Home Official Plans New LaSalle Coach

Mr Green Jeff Cameron of Cincinnati will meet in Cincinnati Ohio at noon Wednesday on a business mission for Leland Green Funeral Home in Cameron. He will return in a modern LaSalle funeral coach to be used in the service here. The equipment is described as the most modern in America and the only such coach in Milam County. Wesley Majors will drive a coach back to Bon Bud as they travel to Chicago.
