Iowa Brothers Set Record With City of Des Moines Ford Run
Ralph and Rolland Davis set a new world endurance record for a non motor non wheel car by stopping the Model A Ford at Des Moines east capitol after 2775 hours 46 minutes. The car totaled 47138.3 miles on varied Iowa roads in 116 days beating the prior non stop record by 33680 miles and 2335 hours. Engineers said the engine and chassis showed little wear and could run another 50000 miles. The run covered nearly the entire state with Governor Hammill and Walter Ferrell observing.
