Republicans Name Dewey Brings Bricker for Vice President
Thomas E. Dewey governor of New York was nominated for president by the Republican convention in Chicago. John W. Bricker governor of Ohio was nominated for vice president. Dewey won on the first ballot with 1056 votes, one vote from Wisconsin for General MacArthur. Bricker appeared likely for VP as the roll called mostly by states, Ohio voting. Warren of California declined the VP slot. Dewey will address the convention tonight after alerting New York. Willkie sent congratulations by telegram.
