U S Highway 77 Association will hold a 10 a m meeting June 27 in the Cameron district court room. The group formed in February 1950 includes city and county representatives from the route and aims to promote Highway 77 as the Canada to Central America corridor. Ownership to Become Effective July 1 in Cameron
Mayor A N Green and city officials traveled to Austin to finalize arrangements for Cameron’s purchase of Community Public Service. The council authorized steps to take water works ownership, with bonds of 375000 issued. 350000 sold and 300000 paid to the Water Co. A 25000 reserve may fund a tank or equipment, 50000 remains as callable funds. The city expects 20000 yearly net income after 30 years. This marks Cameron’s first major advance in years.

A Friday evening crash at North Fannin and East 11th Street left Valon Fogel a line serviceman for Southwestern Bell Telephone Co with a fractured spine multiple head injuries and abdominal distress. He was treated at St Edward Hospital for shock and minor bruises and by Monday was resting at the Sycamores with expectations of returning to business soon.
