About $30,000 in $50 bonds were cashed by nightfall Tuesday with checks mailed for fractional parts. the total bonus pool is estimated at $750,000 for Milam County. Belmont C. Cluck was the first veteran to surrender his certificate and receive bonds.
MGM brings Dam on Runyon tale The Three Wise Guys to Cameron Theatre with Robert Young and Betty Furness in romance roles. Supporting cast includes Raymond Waibrun Thurston Hall Bruce Cabot Donald Meek Herman Bing Harvey Stephens Harry Tyler. Producer Harry Raph and director George Seitz deliver a screen version praised for lively, urban humor.
Cameron opened its softball league with two games under lights at the high school field. Texaco led by Mason Longmire and Allen Dodson of Magnolia traded blows in a high scoring 24 to 23 extra inning victory.
Farm clubs under the Home Demonstration program convene in Cameron for an annual rally day. Miss Bertha Fae Strange announced the schedule featuring Dr. Alex Devist of Temple and Mrs. Jeff T. Kemp speaking on Pioneer work, with city officials and Milam county delegates attending.

Dedication of the Hall of Religion at the Centennial Exposition in Dallas will be broadcast Sunday from 2 15 to 2 46 pm by Texas Quality Network and four major Texas stations. Bishop Harry T Moore will deliver the dedicatory address and L B Denning of Lone Star Gas will accept the gift to Texas churches. The hall honors church influence in Texas history as the state marks its 100th anniversary.
Rev Vernon G Miles announces a revival at First Baptist Church from June 21 to July 1 with preaching by Miles. Evening services are on the lawn at 7 p m and morning sessions start at 8 am. W R Hoover of Mercedes visited Cameron family.
Voters head to the polls on June 23 to decide whether school trustees should be elected or kept by appointment. A favorable vote would oust the current seven member board and trigger a new election. Clarence Sapp visited Cameron over the weekend and left with his sister Mrs C M Deadwyler and niece Mae Griffith for Houston.
The Herald shifts mailing to Thursday morning to better serve advertisers and readers. Advertising copy must be in Herald office by Tuesday night. Late submissions delay delivery to Friday or Saturday. Cameron's only Thursday morning newspaper.
Norma Lee Percy aged 23 months died after being beaten with a stick on the Carl Tarwater farm near Baileyville. Judge John Thweatt reported the inquest. the mother Josie Bevers was at work. A three year old boy, from the same household, struck the child four times, including a fatal skull blow, claiming the aim was to stop crying.
