Victor Miles, a negro, died at a local hospital Tuesday night from injuries after a car struck him on Highway 69 near Milano. E. H. Bartholow of Texas City drove the car. Miles was rushed to the hospital but died early that night. No arrests or charges were filed. the fatality was considered possibly unavoidable.

Harry Nelson Harris died at Cameron Hospital on Tuesday night June 12 1945 following a brief illness. He was born October 12 1874 in Milam county near Tracy and married Katie Lecare Caldwell August 8 1896. He leaves a widow daughter Gladys Price two brothers and three sisters and was a longtime Buckholts farmer and stockman with services held June 13 1945 at 4 p m at First Baptist Church with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Killed in Action PFC Milton Williams from Cameron
Pfc Milton Williams of Cameron was killed in action on Okinawa April 21, disclosed by War Department telegram to his parents Mr and Mrs John Wesley Williams and to his widow Mrs May Bell Williams. He leaves four sons Bobby Charles Eddie Milton Williams and mother May Bell Penney Williams. He joined the army December 23 1948 and trained at Camp Cross South Carolina. He was home on furlough July 1944 and also served in the Mariana Islands before Okinawa.

Cecil V. Drake Promoted to First Lieutenant in Germany
Cecil V. Drake of Cameron Texas has been promoted to First Lieutenant by the 397th Bombardment Group the first B 26 Marauder unit based in Germany. He flew over 25 combat missions before V E Day earned the Air Medal with four oak leaf clusters and served with the Ninth Air Force in tactical bombing. Drake entered service in 1942 arrived overseas in 1944 and was a construction machine operator in the Panama Canal zone before the war.
