Fete Is Lively Success At National Guard Armory

Thousands of locals and visitors flocked to the fourth annual Folk Fete at the National Guard Armory. A downtown parade kicked off the event with trophies awarded for top entries, while ethnic foods, crafts, and live music from Don Sheffield and his Western Swingsters filled the grounds. Inside, band music, folk dances, a fiddlers contest, and a domino tournament drew crowds alongside Friday and Saturday night dances.

Yee High Band Members Shine At State Solo Contest

Five Yee High School Band members traveled to the University of Texas at Austin for state solo and ensemble competition. Gary Meyer won first division on clarinet, and a clarinet quartet including Gary, Cindy Clark, Sue Ann Kennedy, and Mary Blake earned third division. Donald Czaplinski directed the band.
