Local post office announces Adjusted Service Bond distribution with bonds mailed from Dallas June 15 and arriving Cameron June 16. Estimated value exceeds a half million dollars. some bonds delivered by rural carriers, others mailed as ready.
Students are instructed to report to room 26 in the Yee High School building on Monday at 9 am for summer session. Fees are five dollars for 1 to 2 credits and ten dollars for 1 credit.
Funeral services for Martin L. Fikes 86 were held at his Cameron residence with Rev C C Hill officiating. He died Tuesday night at his home after two years of declining health. Born in Mississippi he farmed in Yarrellton then near Jones Prairie. Survived by widow and ten children Raymond Joe Chester Franklin Ralph Marshall Weems Mrs Wm Locklin Mrs Major Young Hubert Fikes Walter Pikes and others in Cameron Bartlett Monrovia California. Interment in North Elm Cemetery.
Warner Baxter stars in Robin Hood of Eldorado at the Cameron Theatre Sunday and Monday June 7 and 8. The production promises epic sweep and intimate romantic thrills set in Americas gold rush era beginning 1848 and echoing The Covered Wagon and The Big Trail.
Alvin H. Roberts has been elected Secretary and Treasurer of the American Guardian Life Insurance Company of Madisonville. He has begun duties and his family will move to Madisonville within ten days. Born and raised in Cameron, he is a Yee High School graduate, son of Mr and Mrs Luther Roberts and brother of Vernon Roberts of Cameron Mutual Life Insurance Association.
The American Legion will sponsor a July Fourth celebration in Cameron. A June 24 meeting will finalize plans. A committee led by Lee Harris and August Kunz will coordinate with the local carnival and fireworks team.
F W Fischer, candidate for governor, praised the Texas Highway Department in Cameron. He urged keeping the department intact and expanding paving of lateral roads to aid farmers, insisting the fund should grow to support the highway commission’s programs while opposing any tax-relief plan that would cut the highway fund.
The Mauritz Baldwin Corporation expands Electrolux home boxes to farm houses with kerosene and natural gas models. Manager 3 T Baldwin notes 60 percent of New York’s home freezing units last year were Electrolux. Norge stove and electric box plus gas cooker highlight domestic trade.
Warm weather arrives as Cameron Machine Shop promotes Fairbanks Morse electric refrigerators. The shop reports steady sales and customer satisfaction with these units, inviting locals to visit and view the appliances in their Florala issue store.
T A Howell and wife return to Cameron from visiting son Jay D Howell in Del Rio. He recalls Del Rio area trips into the Rio Grande wastes with historical notes from Langtry and Villa Acuna crossing, noting 200 foot cliffs and eagle nests. Mention of Judge Roy Bean and Bandits era near Langtry.
Senator W K Poage spoke at 4 pm in Rockdale to promote his bid for Congress. Introduced by J W Garner, Poage touted twelve years in the Senate, perfect attendance, and leadership roles while stressing his record over promises. PAGE TURN.

J R Bush of Waco becomes district manager of Community Natural Gas Company in Cameron succeeding Joe Furneaux who transfers to Waco engineering. Bush, formerly Texas City Gas engineer, has 11 years with Community Gas. Mrs Bush to join Cameron within a week. district covers Bover, Buckholts, Rockdale, Rosebud, Cameron. Bush praises Cameron’s progress and people.
Roy Sanderford of Temple, candidate for governor, will speak in Cameron at 2 20 Saturday afternoon June 6. He will discuss old age pension sales tax income tax and other forms of taxation local self government law enforcement and home ownership.
