Six Room Home Destroyed By Fire In West Cameron
A six room house owned by Louis McLaughlin in West Cameron was destroyed Sunday morning. Firefighters arrived as the structure was in full blaze and worked about thirty minutes to control the fire. Damage was about eight thousand dollars and the cause was blamed on an oil cook stove. No one was injured though McLaughlin and several children were inside. The department was called out again Monday morning to Beatrice Harris’s home on 1902 North Harding Street for an electrical fire briefly halted by cutting the wires.

Ninety members of Yoe High School band spent Band Day at Landa Park New Braunfels for picnicking swimming boating and sports. They left Cameron at 6 30 a m and returned about 7 30 p m sunburned and tired. They carried lunches and were chaperoned by Mrs Albert Horstmann and Mr and Mrs Francis Cox with three Cameron school buses providing transport driven by Emil Hollas R T Wallace and W H Lucas.

Central Texas Prepares 11 Highway Projects for 1955-56

J C Burke aged 90 died at Saint Edward Hospital on May 31 after three years of declining health. Born February 20 1864 in Seligma Georgia he moved to Milam County Texas at eleven. Funeral services were held June 2 at 2 p m at the First Baptist Church Cameron with burial in Oak Hill cemetery.
