Folk Fete Inc Finances in Good Condition

Folk Fete Inc reports a 1977 Fete profit from beer and soft drinks sales and other revenue. Income totaled 10,279.98 with 3,762.10 from admissions and 3,512.43 from beer and ice. Somerville Fire Frolic Set With Barbecue and Dance

The Somerville Volunteer Fire Department hosts its annual Firemen's Frolic on Saturday. A barbecue with trimmings is served 4:30 to 6:30 pm, followed by an 8 pm dance featuring the Country Five of Giddings. Meal tickets run $3 for adults and $1.75 for children under 12, while dance tickets are $5 per couple.

Sheriff Clears Rash of Burglaries in Milam County

Milam County Sheriff Leroy Broadus says the department has cleared a series of burglaries since January with three men in custody on burglary charges. James Sanders of Minerva, Gary Earley of Rockdale, and Robert Ed Homan of Rockdale were arrested or surrendered on $10,000 bonds. Items including tires and beer were recovered from an old house in Minerva.

A Milam County grand jury met for two days and returned 3 indictments against 31 persons including murder and rape of a child. Fatal Pickup Plunges Into Creek Bed Near Cameron

Funeral held in Cameron for Griffin Burnett 52 who died in a one vehicle crash on Milam County Road 230 near Cameron. Burnett was found in his pickup by a passerby several hours after the Sunday dawn crash. He was a World War II veteran and Industrial Generating Co. employee with survivors including parents a son two daughters and several siblings. Burial followed at Marlow Cemetery with First Presbyterian Church rites.

Flea Market Expansion Draws City buyers and sellers

The Saturday flea market in the Youth Exposition building Cameron expands with 12 stalls in its first event attracting 150 plus customers. Vendors from Temple Marlin and an Oklahoma traveler list items for sale while spaces cost $2.
