Milam 4-H Delegates Talk at Lions Luncheon

Miss Mabel Evard of Minerva and Miss Bertha Fae Strange Milam County Home Demonstration Agent spoke to the Lions club about their Washington trip for the National 4-H club conference. Lions voted to send one Milam County 4-H girl to the A and M Short Course starting late this month.

Dr. B Hill of San Antonio and Texas Rangers connection to be featured in a fall revival at First Presbyterian Church Cameron planned for early September. John Maxwell Announces Run for Congress in 1937

John Maxwell of Waco will seek the Congress seat to replace O Hr Cross who retires when his term ends in January 1937. Maxwell previously opposed Cross in 1928 and narrowly lost. Milam County now lies in the 11th district formerly served by Tom Connoley who is now in the Senate. Mrs Maxwell visited Cameron last Saturday and asked the Herald be mailed to her Waco address.

Dr Eduard Rischar Cameron Hospital surgeon sails from New York aboard the Europa en route to France. He plans to study in a summer surgery course in Vienna and travel through several European countries for about three months.

Old 1861 Receipt Shows April Subscription Payment

A historic 1861 receipt for Dr E A Martin paying for two Sentinel copies for nine months is shown by Alex Martin of Waco. The document, from Cameron Centinel era, bears John A Moore as editor or business manager and notes a wagon sale for two weeks at 1.50. The artifact will be preserved and displayed during the 1936 Centennial year.
