Thomas Seaton of Cameron is listed as a patient in St Edwards Hospital according to the latest hospital roster. This record notes his location within the facility without stating diagnosis or prognosis.
The Cameron band will lead a parade in Houston Saturday at 10 a.m. as part of the annual live stock exposition. Francis Cox, band director, confirms the honor and notes Yee High Band members will travel to Houston for the engagement.
Cameron WOW lodge installed officers Wednesday night with R. E. Miller of Omaha Nebraska as principal speaker. Miller is a vice president of the order and Roy Martin state manager from Houston spoke. G O Harris was promoted to district manager with headquarters in Cameron covering Milam Lee Burleson and Robertson counties.
Dr. W H Cypert, a Texas Chiropractic College graduate from San Antonio, opens offices Monday in the Cameron Hotel building space previously used by the employment service. His wife Mrs Cypert is with him and they reside with Mrs Janeway at 502 North Washington.
The Freedom Train will visit Waco on Monday February 2 announced by W H Stafford Civic Secretary after notice from the Waco Junior Chamber of Commerce. The date was changed from the original schedule and Cameron residents plan to visit the exhibit featuring historic government documents from Washington.
J W Sykes was brought to Temple Hospital after a Wednesday illness on the way to Temple with Sheriff Carl Black and A E Schiller. He improved by Saturday, sending encouragement to friends here.
Seven Yoemen players will graduate at mid term after the Football Banquet. Richard Burke, Billy Hauk, Denson Provasek, Charles Duncan, Eugene Salach, Joe Hawkins, and Jim My O Neill are listed with positions and letter counts.
Lester Glass and his son Donald hosted a barbecue at the VFW Cabin in Wilson Ledbetter Park. Coaches, the school superintendent, and principals attended along with about 50 guests for a meal with barbecue dinner and drinks.
Ruth Jackson of Cameron is a surgery patient in Newton Memorial Hospital.
Officers and directors for First National Bank were elected for 1948. Walter F. Sharpe was elected as a new director at the annual stockholders meeting. Existing directors include E. Akers J. E. Flinn A. K. Gurecky E. Vogelsang Lester Williams and W. F. Sharpe. Board officers named: E. Vogelsang chairman Lester Williams president W. S. Lamkin vice president A. K. Gurecky vice president and cashier R. A. Marak assistant cashier.
J Hairston aged 23 formerly of Cameron was killed January 21 at the Portland Cement Company plant in Colton California when a powder magazine exploded. He lived in Riverside. survived by his widow and parents and six brothers and two sisters. Three other workers were killed and windows shattered in Colton and Riverside. Colton is a railroad industrial city about fifty five miles east of Los Angeles. Hairston was a World War II Pacific veteran and had married six months prior to his death.
Cameron saw about one inch of precipitation by Tuesday morning with .53 inches by Monday midnight and .31 by Tuesday morning. A sharp norther lowered temperatures to 29 degrees, with a forecast for subfreezing lows around 18 degrees tonight. Sleet accompanied the front and snow and colder air were predicted for the area and Dallas.
Mr and Mrs A H Juergens of Ben Arnold announce the birth of a daughter at St Edwards hospital on January 21 1948 weighing 8 pounds 4 ounces She is named Mary Francine The mother is the former Anna Slama of Cameron The Juergens already have a daughter Barbara Ann and a son Arnold Thomas.
John Thweatt of Maysfield transacted business in Cameron on Friday.
A Texas ice storm dominates life as Cameron and surrounding areas face record low temperatures. Sheriff Carl C. Black warns of hazardous roads and bridges and urges people to stay home unless necessary as several minor accidents occur and emergency crews spread gravel ahead of dangerous conditions.

In Grapeland Texas on January 27 a heavyset man wearing dark glasses and a toy pistol attempted a robbery at the Farmers and Merchants State Bank. The vice president hurled a money changer, the thief grabbed $125 from a customer, fled after slipping on ice, and was aided by an accomplice who drove away. A fingerprinted pistol piece provided a clue to officers.
McClaren Jr. of Marlow named president of Milam county Farm Bureau at a Friday meeting. Ed Senkel Buckholts becomes first vice president, FE Yeager Maysfield second vice president, and Mrs. James Elrod secretary treasurer. Directors to be named Feb 4 in the district courtroom. Frank Taylor and Harold Jordan of Waco assist in organizing.
Former resident Mrs. R. B. Lewis died at her home 1825 South 12th Street in Waco early Wednesday January 28. The body was sent to Marek-Burns Funeral Home in Cameron by Bill Burns and funeral arrangements were to be announced later. Relatives in the area were notified.
