Greenwich Observatory To Have Woman Director
Dr. E. Margaret Burbidge will become the first woman director of the Royal Greenwich Observatory next summer. She will work at Herstmonceux Castle in England while remaining a UC San Diego professor. Sugar Costs Higher Fattening Effect Than Starch
Brookhaven National Laboratory researchers report that sugar calories convert to blood fat more efficiently than starch calories. In tests with alternating high sugar and high starch diets the fat-producing effect of sugar was two to five times greater, with amplified results in women taking oral contraceptives.

Tea Honors Bride-Elect at Cameron House Party
Mrs. Carroll Green hosted a tea for her niece Miss Marilyn Perrin at the Green home in Cameron from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday. Perrin, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Perrin, is the bride-elect of Mr. James C. Key of Sweeney with a February 19 wedding planned. About 75 guests attended the engagement party and line formed by family including Perrin’s parents and the prospective groom’s mother and grandmother.
