Roy Law Milam County tax collector issues a call to pay poll taxes to support the public free school fund and to enable voting in 1930 elections. He urges early auto registrations before February 2 and warns of penalties and delays for late payments or registrations.
A meeting of prospective players settled plans for the Yoe High baseball season with Boots Smith named captain Sam Hazelwood business manager and George Moore official sports writer. The squad aims for success backed by last year’s lettermen and new players. A program at the high school auditorium is set for January 28 with Cameron community support urged.
Dan Tyson announces candidacy for another term as Cameron assessor and collector of taxes with support from supporters citywide. He touts his tax expertise, accurate records, and personal attention to duties, urging voters to back his re election in the February 4 Democratic primary.
Miss Cora Lee McDermott 19, died after a Christmas holiday fireworks accident. Funeral services were held Friday at the Baptist church in Marlow, with Rev. E S Hutcherson officiating. Interment followed in Marlow cemetery. Survived by parents Mr. and Mrs. John McDermott and siblings Kathleen, Myrle, Bill, Robert, and Giles Jr.
After weeks of quiet, the committee overseeing Christmas health seal sales expects to meet the $500 quota soon. Precinct chairmen and assistants are personally contacting nonrespondents with stamped enclosures, and early returns are promising. A final report is hoped within days.
Frank Stewart, longtime NuWay grocery manager in Cameron, has purchased the store and will operate it under NuWay while owning the business. He urges patrons to continue supporting the store, which will maintain its policy of selling nationally advertised foods at popular prices and upholding the high level of service.

The New Essex cars have arrived at the Cameron Tire Store. The Essex Broughan, the first of its type, joins the new standard sedan and the coach. Demonstrations are ready as August Horstmann highlights a revolution in design and finish. cars were unloaded Wednesday.
Roy Law Milam County tax collector has returned home to Cameron after an eye surgery in Temple to restore sight in his left eye. He faces a difficult January due to duties, but his office remains active with staff handling tax payments and automobile registrations while he recovers.
At Edwin Hardy Post No. 9 American Legion meeting in Ada Henderson school Cameron was chosen to host the next district meeting, including the sixth district. The post also backed a city effort to remove unsightly buildings from the courthouse lawn. Commander Baskin reported on plans. State Commander Cox was ill. A musical program featured Imogene Sapp Frances Sharpe Annette Ryan Mildred Clinton Mary Ellen Manning.
Executive Committee fixes February 14 and 15 for boys and March 7 and 8 for girls tournaments in Cameron. County Meet moves to Rockdale March 21 and 22. Ivy Armstrong to organize girls events. Admission 10 cents. contestants admitted free.

She cites low equipment costs and volunteer help, proposes church and civic donations, and describes a day with exercises free play crafts and songs to teach teamwork fairness and resilience.
The Sapp Motor Company in Cameron announces two new 1930 Dodge models a Dodge Six and a Dodge Eight. Local dealers expect delivery soon after display in larger cities. Prices are advertised as very low and the cars are promoted as sensational for the year with manager John Sapp stating arrival within days.
Fannie Hall 38 is dead after a dispute with her husband 35 in Milam County near Gause. Deputy Vaughn and District Attorney Lewis issued charges. the couple is jailed with a murder count. The incident followed a contested meat dispute and a fatal shooting during the morning.
Cameron stockholders met January 14 1930 at the courthouse electing directors T S Henderson J K Freeman DP K Hall J A McLerran and Mrs Mary J Robinson. They approved forming a Cotton Marketing Association and favor Texas headquarters. Officers named T S Henderson president J K Freeman vice president W G Gillis secretary treasurer. Loan committee members chosen Will Vaughan T S Henderson J K Freeman with D K Hall as alternate.
Glenn Flinn, advertising manager at the Cameron Herald for a year, accepts a merchandising post with Texas Power and Light Company in Cameron. He will head the companys merchandising department and oversee city sales.
Roy Law, who underwent a sinus operation in Temple recently, has returned to his home here and is reported improving.
