Local Officers to Get National Defense Training in Austin
Cameron area police will attend a six day FBI school in Austin on January 12 1942 to qualify as Civilian Volunteer Auxiliary police instructors. The program covers traffic control blackout enforcement and other civilian defense topics led by G W Carlson with instruction based on studies from England. Additional FBI schools are set for January 12 in Laredo and Del Rio and January 19 in Harlingen and Waco.

RVPOS Lodge Buys War Bonds and Donates to Red Cross
The RVPOS Insurance group announced it purchased 5000 dollars in war bonds and gave 100 dollars to the American Red Cross. Jos Slavik serves as secretary with F A Marek of Cameron as vice president. W M Nolte Dies at Bellville Home
News from Bellville reports the death of W M Nolte 76 brother of Judge O C Nolte and C F Nolte of Ben Arnold. He lived on the family homestead linked to Texas early settlement and Confederate veteran father. Survived by 10 children six sons and four daughters and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. The Nolte family has been prominent in Austin county for almost a century. Bill Sharp of Cavilla was a Cameron business visitor Wednesday.

Negro Committee Closes Red Cross Drive Here
The Red Cross and Home Defense drive among the negro community closed with a program at O. J. Thomas High School last Wednesday. Students presented America and prayers while Rev. E L Johnson spoke on loyalty and his son Private Langston Johnson shared camp life remarks. A report listed a total of 51.33 dollars raised from local schools and residents including Milam County and individual contributors.

Former Cameron Boy Killed in Philippines
Milam county records the first local death in the Philippines as Truett Majors 25 was killed on January 5 while on active duty with General Douglas MacArthur. He was born in Cameron and moved to Greenville at age ten. Majors joined the Air Corps two years ago and studied law in Dallas before volunteering. He is survived by his parents sister and two brothers.

Roping Cub Volunteers as Mounted Police Unit in Cameron
