A. P. Andrews of the Internal Revenue Service in Temple Texas announced that farmers and ranchers in the area must pay a 6.15 percent self-employment tax for 1966, in addition to income tax. The tax funds old age survivors Medicare and disability benefits under Social Security. Self-employed farmers are those who operate their own farm or ranch, even if they hire others.
