Burlington Texas December 26 a lamp explosion started by a drunk Antone Zilka set his house alight. Mrs Zilka and one child suffered severe burns while neighbors Lee Tallent and Andrew Prender freed the scene. Zilka was overpowered and tied in the woodshed after a pistol assault.
County Attorney W W Chambers came up from Cameron on official business. Mrs E B Harris spent Christmas holidays with her mother at Nolanville. Editor treated to Christmas dinner at J A Evans home. J E Gavenda visited and reports a baby girl born this week. Christmas tree at the Methodist church well attended. Miss Benna Caldwell spent holidays with mother and sisters in Cameron. Sunday morning near Little River two youths Willie White and George Jeffries hunted ducks when a gun in Jeffries hand discharged. The shot struck White in the back of the head and he died later. The tragedy was reported as a hunting accident. Nearby residents and visitors included Will Pool of Abernathy and Sam Bean of Rogers visiting Cameron.

A. W. Brademan contracts with the Rockdale Reporter to publish a rural route directory of Milam county. The book, due in January, lists every family head on the county rural routes from Rockdale, Cameron, Thorndale and nearby towns. Each listed family receives a copy, with new parcel post rules included for quick reference.
Notice directs Sheriff to publish a four week public citation for Wade Hill in Milam County Texas to appear at the next District Court term in Cameron on April 20 1914 for a divorce petition filed December 1 1913 by Lula Hill.
