Milam County License Plate Sales Near April Deadline
Average license plate sales were reported in Milam County with one month until the April 1 deadline. Walter White, tax assessor, said 7,400 vehicles were registered last year. New 1969 plates must be on vehicles by April 1 and can be purchased at the Cameron Courthouse Gaither Motor Co Rockdale and Thorndale locations. To register a vehicle one must present the title and last year’s registration receipt.

Milam County is invited to join the Central Texas Law Enforcement Council formed last Friday at Killeen. The six county group with 67 agencies seeks Omnibus Crime Control funds to develop a regional crime program. plan due May 1 to qualify for federal grants. The Abiding Savior Lutheran Church announces a 10:40 a.m. groundbreaking at the 12th and Jackson site for a new 2832 square foot sanctuary valued at 46275 dollars. Construction begins March 10 with a 150 day timeline. The cross shaped building includes two wings, a 54-car parking lot, skylight, eight classrooms and an office. The site covers 1.6 acres between 12th and 18th Streets on North Jackson. Architect is Logsdon and Voelter of Temple, contractor Coffield Construction Co. of Rockdale. Groundbreaking follows services at All Saints Episcopal Church. Building committee members named.
