Physician Barkley Dies at 79 in Milam County
Dr. Thomas S. Barkley, 79, oldest county physician, died last Thursday at his Rockdale home after 52 years of practice in Milam County. Born 1885 in Rice, he earned a Southwestern University medical degree and served as professor at SMU medical school. He delivered 4000 babies, treated many without pay, and remained devoted to his patients and community.
