City Council on February 20 authorized an election for three alderman seats on April 3, 1951. Expiring terms belong to Bob Terry Milton Schiller and John Andreas. Mayor Green appointed Dan Gunn presiding Judge with assistants to be secured. Election at City Hall 8 AM to 7 PM. Bonds ordinance passed 5 to 0. Farmers and residents from Maysfield Branchville Belmena and surrounding counties urged Cameron City Council on February 20 to pressure Southwestern Bell to extend lines. Alderman Milton Schiller recalled a 1947 resolution and said the company promised rural expansion in return for higher local rates. Guard Calls Depend On World Situation
The Army plans to release about 233,800 National Guardsmen and reservists after current federal duty. Maj. Gen. Maxwell Taylor said no more guard divisions will be called unless the world situation worsens. 118,000 guardsmen are on duty. 26,000 reserve and 90,000 national guardsmen were in service at year start.

Dr Barney F Reese Pioneer Physician Dies at 78
Dr Barney F Reese 78 died at Newton Memorial Hospital February 16 1951 after three months illness. Born in Arkansas he moved to Texas as a child and practiced in Gause for 32 years. He retired three years ago and lived with Mr and Mrs J T Todd in Gause. He had no surviving relatives and belonged to First Methodist Church and formerly Odd Fellows. Funeral services conducted by Rev Cunningham at First Methodist Hearne and Gause church February 17 with burial in Gause cemetery. Pallbearers listed.

Corn Support Price Set By Department
The Agriculture Department announced 1951 crop corn will be supported at a national farm average of at least $1.54 per bushel, seven cents higher than last year. The rate equals 90 percent of the parity price as of Oct. 1, with possible increases if parity rises. Oats, barley, and grain sorghums saw modest increases to 72 cents, $1.11, and $1.88 per 100 pounds respectively.

Denson Kirk Visitors From Dumas
Mr and Mrs Denson Kirk of Dumas visit relatives and friends in Cameron this week. Kirk was injured months ago at the Dumas zinc plant when a shield from a sliding door fell on him. He is much improved and friends welcome their visit. Mrs Kirk is the former Helen Halpin.

Milam County Farm Bureau leaders and members urged contacting Rep. Henry Lehman to oppose Graham Bill HB 226. At a February 13 hearing, the Highways and Roads Committee voted 15 to 3 against the bill, but House action forced a second review in State Affairs.
