A Cameron reader criticizes the Highway Department for delaying a new Little River bridge and underfunding key roads 77 and 36. He urges business leaders to back improved infrastructure and agricultural poultry ventures, noting past misallocations and stalled projects.
Fairmount Creamery Company of Cameron seeks a reliable parts owner with a small farm to enter commercial poultry. The company provides houses, breeders, equipment, chicks, feed, and financing for up to 7,000 chicks. Profits come from broilers and eggs, with four broiler crops yearly and eggs selling for 25 to 30 cents per dozen.
The Yoemen defeated Buckholts 31 to 39 in a tight county final to claim Milam County basketball title. Cameron will represent the county at the district meet and the Herald trophy will be awarded at Yee High School by tournament director Charles M. Hicks.
L. C. Wood, head football coach at Yee High School, has been asked to meet the Marshall School Board to discuss the coaching post. He received the telegram Wednesday and plans to travel to Marshall within a day or two. He has been elected for two more years in Cameron.
The Works Progress Administration will be discussed at 10 a m on February 25 in the District Court room. Sponsors of WPA projects and civic organization representatives are urged to attend. The meeting is called by District Manager C E Wayman and others from Austin present.
The Tax Collector office announced new auto license plates will be issued starting February 20. The plate numbers range from 931751 to 936750 as reported by All Alex Bonds.
Carl Taylor Max Cook Frank Williams Kenmy Baker and Wayne Bough all of Temple visited friends in Cameron Wednesday.
National commander Milo J. Warner calls ex service men to register February 21 and 22 at Edwin Hardy Post No. 9 headquarters. The voluntary registration, tied to American Legion plans, honors George Washington’s birthday and aims to index Legion members and World War veterans for potential national defense service.
Milam County teachers gather in Cameron Monday night February 24 to discuss the Inter scholastic League meeting date and to select delegates for a state conference in Austin March 7 and 8. T N Woods San Gabriel school superintendent leads the program.
Baptist leaders call for 10 percent attendance at church and Sunday School on March 2 and 9. If full participation is 1200, members are urged to attend both church and Sunday School on these days.

The Yar High School board reelected head football coach L. C. Wood for a two year term. Wood also serves as athletics director. The board retained John Sapp of Sapp Motor Co to teach students a mechanics course under the National Defense Act.
Sheriff Walter White defends actions after Alfred Punchard escaped from jail shortly after midnight Sunday. He notes an appeal was pending and two days were allowed. a jailer was not the accused, a cook handles prison meals. Repairs and new quarters planned to prevent further incidents.

Rev J W Mills of First Methodist Church begins a 15 week sermon series titled The Teachings of Christ in morning services and Phases of the Life of Christ in evenings. The plan seeks full membership involvement and aims for broader attendance with 12 group leaders. About 588 members reside outside city limits and 4638 are expected to attend. The high school gymnasium project funded by a $1000 yearly pledge and city council backing ends band director salary payments. The school board halted its annual support, shifting costs to the city and depriving the band of $100 monthly while the city gains $200 yearly. The legal framework in Cameron gives the school district no bonded debt authority. the gym remains a city obligation.
W R Sharp of Davilla toured Cameron on Monday in a casual visit to the city, greeting local residents and observing downtown activity.
Former students of the University of Texas in Milam County will hold their second annual meeting Monday night March 3 in Cameron. Dean V I Moore of the University of Texas will deliver the address at Yee High School symnasium followed by a banquet.

Castor bean farming in Milam County raised 1933 pounds from 3 1/2 acres under an experimental Texas Power and Light Co. program. Led by Cameron residents John B. Henderson and D. K Hall with 957 and 889 pounds, others included J A Henderson Ed Pagel and Miltom Boone. The crop was threshed by a company representative after storage and seed was provided by sponsors. The TP&L paid two cents per pound, above recent New York price ranges.
Funeral services were held for Bob Luce aged 52 at the First Baptist church in Milano with interment in Milano cemetery. He died at 10 p.m. Wednesday at his Milano home after four months of declining health. A farmer by trade, he drove a Milano school bus for six years and is survived by his widow, daughter Emmie Katherin of Cameron, his mother Mrs. Emmie Luce and sisters Mrs. Frank Paschal and Miss Ann Luce of Milano.
Cameron banks observe Saturday February 22 as a national holiday and close. The First National Bank and Citizens National Bank will reopen Monday. Rural and city customers are advised to complete transactions on Friday to avoid disruption.
