Nixon cuts at bankers convention spark rural critique
Congressman Bob Poage of Waco told about 200 bankers at the 21st annual Farm and Ranch Credit School in College Station that the Nixon administration’s budget cuts and program terminations hurt rural areas. He condemned REAP and the Emergency Disaster Loan program, warned of revenue sharing costs, and urged decisions belong with Congress. The event was sponsored by the Texas Bankers Association, Texas A&M Extension Service, and Texas Agricultural Experiment Station.
