Big Snowstorm Buries New York City Area
Snow continued over Greater New York adding to a ten inch blanket from Saturday's blizzard. At 9 a.m. the temperature was 17 degrees. With 17,000 shovellers and drivers on duty, only an inch of snow is removed daily from 300 miles of streets. The Weather Bureau records 9.7 inches so far, and a ten day thaw is needed to ease the removal effort.

Burglar Keeps Busy In Bartlett
In Barrett Texas on February 5 a burglar entered Lawrence Bros store by the back door and fled after a passersby heard a noise. Three other stores were robbed in the night with small cash, shoes, and clothing taken. A negro suspect was jailed pending identification.

A mob of about 200 men raided the Falls county jail in Marlin Texas aiming to lynch Horace Bennett and Jeff Hunter, both accused of assaulting white women. Sheriff Poole and deputies hid in the woods as Bennett and Hunter were moved. Bennett was later captured after a long chase.
